What is data freshness?

Data freshness provides information on how long it takes the engine to collect and process an event such as a click, impression or sale, on your retail media ad.

When looking at your metrics and gauging your performance, it is important to remember that all data is not available in real time. As such, key indicators like impressions, clicks, and conversions are regularly updated throughout the day and are usually delayed between 8 to 24 hours.

In CMax, users can access data freshness information directly in their dashboards.


Why is the data delayed? About data collection

With CMax you can buy ads directly on Retailers’ sites and app inventory. In order for us to serve your ads and collect all their events, we partner with the Retailers and implement our technology with them. For most Retailers, the data collection is close to real-time. But for some, it can take more time, which leads then to delays in data processing and availability in dashboards.


About data processing

When the data is fully collected, it is then processed by our engines.


About data adjustments

The data displayed in your dashboards can change and reflect new events, even if your campaign has stopped and is not serving ads anymore.

Changes can happen especially if:

  • A sale happens within your attribution window (after a click or a view), therefore leading to an increase in reported attributed sales and ROAS.

  • Our (Invalid Traffic) engine detects fraudulent clicks, therefore leading to a decrease in reported clicks.


How to find and use the Data Freshness Notice?

The Data Freshness Notice is available in every dashboard, in both the Campaign and Analytics section.
The stamp provides you with the latest time on which the data for impressions, clicks, and sales, was updated.
